  • As representatives of the congregation, the PSC is responsible for nominating our next lead pastor.

In working towards finding the best next pastor for BPC, the PSC is committed to: follow the search process set forth by our Presbytery; address past learning experiences; assess current and future church needs; regularly communicate with our elders, staff and congregants; and closely collaborate with a search firm experienced in church leadership transitions.

With each step along the Pathway to Nomination, the committee is first and foremost dedicated to prayerfully discerning who God is calling to be our next lead pastor.

  • Bay Presbyterian Church is searching for a new Lead Pastor to guide us in fulfilling our mission and vision as we move into the future. Our current interim pastor has faithfully served our congregation, and we are now prayerfully seeking a new leader who will build on this foundation and lead us in our next chapter.

  • We are seeking a pastor who is deeply rooted in Christ, with strong biblical preaching and teaching skills. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for discipleship, be able to engage with and attract younger generations, and demonstrate strong leadership and administrative abilities. We also value someone who can foster unity, encourage collaboration, and lead our church in innovative ways as we strive to fulfill our mission.

  • The Pastor Search Committee (PSC), made up of elected members of our congregation, is leading the search process. They are working in close collaboration with a search firm experienced in church leadership transitions. The process involves gathering input from the congregation, conducting interviews, and prayerfully discerning who God is calling to be our next Lead Pastor.

  • The congregation plays a vital role in the search process through prayer, feedback, and support. We ask that all members be in prayer for the Pastor Search Committee, the search process, and the future pastor. Periodic updates will be provided, and there may be opportunities for the congregation to engage directly as the process progresses.

  • The Pastor Search Committee will carefully review candidates, conduct interviews, and seek the Holy Spirit’s guidance throughout the process. Once they have identified the best candidate, the Session will be involved in the final decision-making process. The recommended candidate will then be presented to the congregation for approval.

  • The search process is thorough and prayerful, and while we hope to find our next Lead Pastor as soon as possible, it’s important that we don’t rush. The timeline will depend on various factors, including the time needed to find the right candidate and the process of discernment. The Pastor Search Committee will keep the congregation updated on progress.

  • We will provide regular updates on the search process through our website, email communications, and during worship services. If you're not already subscribed to our emails, please sign up here. You can also visit this webpage for the latest information and to find out how you can support the search through prayer and other means.

  • Please pray for wisdom, discernment, and unity for the Pastor Search Committee as they undertake this important task. Pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit in leading us to the right candidate. Additionally, pray for the future Lead Pastor and their family as they prepare for this potential transition.

  • If you have any questions, suggestions, or would like to offer support, please feel free to contact the Pastor Search Committee via email at questions@baypres.org or speak with a member of the committee directly. If we are able to respond without breaking the Committees' covenant of confidentiality, know that we will.  Sometimes, it may not be possible. We value your input and prayers during this important time.

  • Once the new Lead Pastor is selected and the congregation has approved the choice, there will be a transition period to allow for a smooth handover. This will include opportunities for the congregation to welcome the new pastor and their family, as well as time for the pastor to get to know the church and community.

  • Our mission and vision permeate the culture of what it means to belong and grow at Bay Pres. We can prepare our hearts through prayer and living into our mission and vision. Learn more.
